WHERE ARE WE LOCATED
We are located in Taghazout, a cruisy surf town 20 minutes north of Agadir, about 3 and a half hours from Marrakech. Since there are no addresses the best thing to do is give us a call when you arrive, or ask at the surfshop in the main street for the Smashed surfcamp, or for the surfcamp of Younus.
You can go to South Surfers Meeting Surfshop, in the main street of Taghazout. The owner Larbi or his mates Karim and Ayoub will give you directions to where we live
- The town has restaurants, shops, a pharmacy and everything you might need. There is no bank or ATM, but we pass an ATM when we drive to the surf every day.
- Our houses have electricity, warm water, dorm-style bedrooms, private rooms (20 euro per night surcharge). Bathrooms are all shared. All beds have bedding. Towels are not provided.
- The house is within walking distance (half a minute) of the town square, the beach is a two minute walk. This is also where the closest surfbreak is.
- We do have wireless internet...
- Our kitchen gets used only by our chef. We provide a hearty breakfast, lunch and dinner, included in the price.
- There is no phone in the house, but our neighbour Mohamed has a teleboutique, where you can make cheap phonecalls abroad.
- A few great surfshops who are a lot cheaper than the ones in Europe
ABOUT MOROCCO
- Morocco is a relatively safe country to travel (also for women alone) as long as you use common sense. Women are regarded differently than in Europe, since Morocco is a muslim country. As long as you dress and behave appropriately you won t get too much hassle. Please keep local customs in mind, don t walk around town without a shirt, don t just walk into a mosque etc.
- The tap-water is not drinkable, but every shop sells bottled water.
- The currency is the Dirham, as a general rule you can convert 1 euro to 10 dirham.
- There are banks and ATM´s close to Taghazout. In Agadir (20 minutes from Taghazout) you can find everything you can find in any European city. We visit Agadir at least once a week with our guests.
- The Agadir area is warm all year round. In the middle of winter the temperatures range from 20-30 degrees Celcius in the day to 10 degrees Celcius at night. It's mostly sunny since we re located closely to the Sahara desert, but nighttime gets cold. So bring a sweater for the nighttime.
PAYING
Since we can t accept creditcard (very uncommon all over Morocco) you can pay for your stay and pick ups/ drop offs in cash. We prefer payment in Euros. (1 euro = 11 Dirham)
SURF
We cater for beginners as well as advanced surfers. Morocco has gentle beginners waves for standing up for the first time and heavy reefbreaks for advanced surfers. If your group is a mix of beginners and advanced you can split up and surf the waves of your taste, or we can keep your group together and find a spot that suits both.
Our cars leave every day to go on surf trips. No activity (or surftrip) is an obligation. You can also use our boards to go for a wave on your own, without partaking in a trip.
The water is relatively cold, therefore we provide wetsuits.
We have all sorts of boards, from 6'1' shortboards for experienced surfers to 8´4´´ beginner boards, also great for longboarding by the way.
GOING OUTAgadir is a very western city, Taghazout is a small, surfy muslim village. Generally we make a fire on our roof after dinner to drink some beer, wine, coffee or tea, lay back and relax. We go out in Agadir at least once a week for a party. Don t expect an Ibiza like party experience, but something very different and interesting. There are nightclubs and bars we visit. They all serve alcoholic beverages, but since alcohol is rare in Morocco it doesn t come cheap in nightclubs.

AIRPORT PICK UPS
You can book your airport pick up in advance, by mailing or calling us. Please notify us at least 3 days in advance. The price of an airport pick up is the same price as a public taxi service would charge, the only difference is that our driver drives non stop (public taxis stop to pick up and drop off along the way) and has a comfortable and safe car. If you book an airport pick up the driver will be waiting at the arrival area, holding a Smashed Travel sign. You can pay for your pick up/ drop off before you leave.
For a drop off you can notify the guides a day in advance. The rates are the same as for pick ups.
They are normal luxury cars that fit 4 people max. (Moroccans take 7 people in a car like that, but this is against the law).
From Marrakech airport
We do airport pickups from Marrakech at all hours of day and night. It s about 4 hours (depending on traffic) from Taghazout. We use a reliable private taxi-service for this. The price is 80€ per transfer from Marrakech airport (or town). An overnight transfer (after 10 p.m.) will cost 120€. You can pay this upon arrival at the Smashed Surfhouse.
From Agadir airport
Airport pickups cost 30€ per pick up in the day, 45€ if it is a night time pick up (after 10 o clock at night). The ride takes about 40 minutes. You can pay this upon arrival at the Smashed House.
From Agadir town
Pick ups in Agadir town are free. If you call us (+212 419 426 72) or mail us at least a day in advance to tell us your estimated arrival time we will keep a car and driver available. Then you can call us the moment you arrive, to tell us where you ve arrived, and we ll be there to pick you up.
